Review and watch 17 again / Seventeen again online
It actually turned out to be much better than I thought! Many times, these types of "time warp" kind of films don't do well with the balance of the situation, but this is not one of the those films. It's not a reverse-knock off of "Big", and it captures the heart of people, much like "13 Going on 30" did a few years back. It's original, and is hilarious when it needs to be, awkward at some moments (but it's necessary), tear-jerking in others. Zac Efron proves that he is more than just the "it boy" from the "High School Musical" series and "Hairspray", and gives a great performance as a 30-something year-old man turned 17 again. He really shows some wonderful screen presence and that he can carry a film (dramatic and/or comedic). I look forward to seeing more from him in the future. Leslie Mann gives another wonderful performance, as well (an actress I've loved since the 90's, but just recently gets recognition for being married to and starring in films of Judd Aptow). Other standout performances come from Thomas Lennon, Matthew Perry (though he's only in the film for maybe 10 minutes), and Michelle Trachtenberg. This is actually one of the better films I've seen this year, and I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. It's a great film with a wonderful message that everyone needs to learn. If you don't love/admire Zac Efron already, you will after you see this film!
